The Red Sea Experience

In the 14th chapter of Exodus, the children of Israel found themselves in a very precarious situation. As they were making their way through the wilderness, they came upon the Red Sea. Now mind you, Pharoah’s army was behind them in hot pursuit, and you would think that after all that God had previously done, they’d have learned what it means to really trust Him. But as many of us have experienced when our humanness takes over, sometimes seeing God seems impossible when obstacles have us completely surrounded.
Your Red Sea Experience, you remember that one don’t you? The one where you had troubles behind you, mountains on both sides of you and waters in front of you? Think about how it all looked at first: the time when death came and got a dear friend; the time when your employer told you that your services were no longer needed; the time when you contemplated suicide; the time when the doctor told you that you had cancer; the time when you engaged in sexual activity and the enemy tormented you with thoughts of a conceived child or a disease; the time when someone you truly cared about broke your heart. Or what about the time when God stripped you down to the nothing to show you that you are not all that you think you are. Remember that?
The overcoming spirit that is already in you needs a catalyst to jumpstart God’s dominion over your life. For most, that’s the route He has to take to get your complete attention. And for the disobedient one that does not understand why there appears to be a cycle of the same stuff happening, take heed. Serving God is just like taking a test: if He presents you with a problem, a challenge or trial that you do not pass, you will continue to reface that test until you succeed. In other words, God will not elevate you to a higher level in Him, until He can trust you with some of the basic tenets.
So my question to you today is this: are you fool enough to believe that God is going to somehow allow you to get the other side of through? Not to sound crass, but I really have little concern about what you’re faced with because we’re all dealing with something. My concern lies in where you are placing your trust.
In our finite minds, it sounds crazy to think that God would somehow part a sea and allow us to walk on dry land to continue towards our destination. But that’s exactly the message today. He specializes in doing those things that in our humanness, we won’t grasp. So my challenge to you today: TRUST GOD! In spite of what it looks like, TRUST GOD! In spite of how you feel, TRUST GOD! In spite of all, JUST TRUST GOD!
I know that might sound rather vague. But I guarantee you, if you’ll release yourself from whatever Red Sea Experience is in front of you, God will allow you to go through it and you won’t even get wet.
