Statement of Faith
God
God There is one God, Creator of all things. He is absolute in His authority, infinite in His perfection, eternal in His existence, and triune in His manifestation as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God reveals Himself to man through these three distinct personalities. (Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; John 1:1, 18; 4:24; 10:30; II Corinthians 13:14; I Timothy 3:16; I John 5:7)
Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ Jesus Christ, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, is the Son of God who came to this earth as Savior of the world. He died physically on Calvary’s cross, the complete and final sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. He resurrected three days later, ascended into heaven, where, at the right hand of the Majesty on High, He is now our High Priest and Advocate.
We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ atones for our sins and iniquity. We also believe in His sinless life, in His miracles, and His soon coming personal return in power and glory. (Luke 3:21-22; John 1:1, 14, 18; John 5:18; Romans 5:9-11; I Corinthians 15:1-4; Ephesians 1:7; Philippians 2:5-11; Colossians 2:9; I Timothy 2:5; Hebrews 1:2; I John 5:20)
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit The Holy Spirit exists to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ. He also ministers during this age to convict men of sin, to regenerate the believing sinner, to indwell those accept salvation, to guide and instruct the redeemed, and to empower the believer for godly living and service. (Matthew 28:19; John 3:3-7; 14:17; 14:26; 16:7; 16:15; Titus 3:5; Romans 8:9; I Corinthians 2:12; 6:19; 12:13; Ephesians 4:30)
The Bible
The Bible The Holy Bible is the inspired, infallible and authoritative Word of God. Every word in the original writings of the Old and New Testaments are without error and accurate. The Bible reveals the complete revelation of God’s will for the salvation of men and the principles and standards for living. It is the divine and final authority for all matters. (Proverbs 30:5; John 1:14; II Timothy 3:15-17; II Peter 1:20-21; I John 2:5-6)
Salvation
Salvation The free gift of salvation is available to all that respond to the message of the Gospel. The sovereign grace of God makes this gift obtainable. The believer’s faith in Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection provide the only grounds for justification and salvation. (John 3:16; Acts 4:12; 13:38-39; 16:31; Romans 4:4-5; 5:1; 6:14; 8:29-30; I Corinthians 15:1-4; Galatians 5:5; Ephesians 1:4-5; 2:8-9; 3:2-6; Colossians 1:25-27)
Man
Man Man was created in the image and likeness of God, but fell into sin by voluntary transgression. This resulted in all men being born lost sinners. Man is justly condemned to eternal judgment and can do nothing to merit salvation. However, through regeneration by the Holy Spirit, salvation and spiritual life can be obtained.
We believe that every believer must have a personal and intimate relationship with Jesus Christ, thus making the goal of godly living and the pursuit of a holy life obtainable. (Genesis 1:26-27; John 15:1-5; Romans 2:2-8; 3:23; 5:12, 19; Ephesians 2:1-10; Philippians 3:14; Hebrews 12:14)
The Second Coming
The Second Coming The blessed hope of the church is the imminent return of Christ. The events of the return of Christ take place in the following order: the rapture of the church, the tribulation, the second advent, the establishment of the reign of Christ on earth for one thousand years, and finally the eternal state of punishment for the unsaved and the eternal state of blessing for the saved. (Titus 2:13; I Thess. 1:10; 4:13-18; 5:4-10; John 14:1-3; Matt. 24:21,29,30; 25:31-46; Rev. 3:10)
Ordinances
Ordinances The Bible sets forth two ordinances, the Lord’s Supper and water baptism. The Lord’s Supper is to be celebrated regularly in remembrance of Christ’s death on the cross, and in expectation of His return. Water baptism is an outward testimony of a person’s belief in Christ. Immersion is the ideal means set forth in Scripture. (Matt. 28:19,20; Mark 16:15,16; Acts 8:12,36-38; 9:18; 10:47; I Cor. 11:23-26)
Christian Life
Christian Life Christians are called to a holy life of service and testimony in the power of the Holy Spirit. This service includes the propagation of the gospel message to the whole world. All believers are promised rewards in heaven for their faithfulness in service. (I Pet. 1:15,16; Acts 1:8; I Cor. 3:12-17; John 14:1-3)
The Church
The Church The church is composed of all believers. It is the body and bride of Christ, formed by the baptism of the Holy Spirit and existing in two aspects, universal and local. The universal church is an elect company of believers, baptized by the Holy Spirit into one body. Its mission is to witness to its head, Jesus Christ, preaching the gospel among all nations. At the Rapture of the church, it will be caught up to meet the Lord, after which He will return to set up His Kingdom. The local church is a group of believers voluntarily joined together in love to worship God with praise and thanksgiving, and to glorify Jesus Christ through an aggressive effort to disciple others by the preaching of the gospel, and the exercise of spiritual gifts. (Eph. 1:22,23; 5:24-30; I Cor. 12:4-13, 27)
